JENNINGS, Myra Jewett

Source: Greencastle Star 7 August 1880 p 5
Born: 14 Jan 1802 Died: 13 June 1880 wife of John Spencer Jennings 1802-1890
The Ladies Missionary Society of the Presbyterian Church, Greencastle Ind June 20, 1880 – whereas, it has pleased our Heavenly Father in his merciful dealings with us his children to remove from our midst our beloved and faithful sister, Mrs. Myra Jennings we feel it due to the memory of one endowed with so much piety and grace, to give expression to our deep regard for her. We have lost the strong visible staff in our work. Her Christian judgment and prudence were a balancing power of strength and help that can never be replaced. She came quietly, unobtrusively, to receive benefit but her presence was a blessing to others. We know that “our loss is her eternal gain,” and bow in submission to the Divine will and are grateful that, for a time, so bright a star was lent to illumine our church life.  May it beam upon us from heaven as a guide to aid us by her example to be faithful in every duty and to be ready as she was for the summons to enter the home above. Therefore be it – resolved, that we tender our sympathy to the bereaved relatives of our deceased sister and commend them to One who alone is able to heal every wound. Resolved, that a copy of these resolutions be presented to the family of Sister Jennings, and also be placed on the records of this Society also a copy be sent to the Putnam County papers … Mrs. Alvena Snider, Mrs. Myra Osborn.
